| The Slug King Barry was a slug most exaltedperfume But very quickly his reign was halted They found him on the ground A slimy mound Barry, it seemed, had been a-salted Written by [Mortified Penguin] | The Life of a Muffin Roasting, rising and ready to arrive, The muffin did smile in its warm baking hive. 2011-04-23 [Roma]: :O I've got work to do.
2011-04-23 [Marlene'Jacques]: has to get her thinking cap on
2011-04-24 [Akayume]: I haven't written a limerick in yeeears. Ofta.
2011-04-24 [Lord Josmar]: First entry!
2011-04-24 [windowframe]: [kians mummy] your entry does not follow the correct format for a limerick, please change your entry to make it a limerick. :)
A limerick has five lines, and a rhyming scheme of AABBA (so the first, second and fifth lines need to rhyme with each other, and the third and fourth lines need to rhyme with each other)
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: is that better
2011-04-24 [windowframe]: Yes. :)
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: so, when will i get my badge x
2011-04-24 [windowframe]: X_X Badges are awarded after the competition is closed and after the winners have been announced. In the case of poetry contests announcing the winners can take several weeks because a group of judges discusses the individual merit of each entry before coming to a conclusion as to who the winner is.
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: Note:
Up to three limericks (depending on the number of entries) will be picked out by the Council among all those presented. Participants will receive green worm badges, and the winner(s) will receive a coloured version of the same.
so that is after the compertition they will recieve that badge
2011-04-24 [windowframe]: Yes. :) Because obviously, we don't know whether you need the green badge or the full-colour badge until after we've chosen the winner.
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: you could always change it, plus your a participent and a winner with both badges
2011-04-24 [windowframe]: No, the badge gets upgraded, you don't get two of them. Badging each person as they enter and then changing some of their badges if they win is a lot more work for us than simply waiting until all entries are in and the results are known, and then badging on one go. This is how badging for every contest on Elftown has been done.
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: well some badging are like that though.
2011-04-24 [windowframe]: Like what?
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: where they give them there participents badge first, as it inspires them to do more, but never mind
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: i just think its a good idea thats all
2011-04-24 [windowframe]: The only competition that is badged in that way is the Council Portrait Gallery Competition, because it is ongoing and thus never has an end (it also doesn't have 'winners'). The Main Street features are badged in the same way for the same reason - they're never ending. For competitions that have a specific deadline, badging happens after the deadline. By entering you've earned a badge, for definite, you just haven't received it yet, and the phase is not yet determined.
2011-04-24 [kians mummy]: ok, no worries
2011-04-24 [Lord Josmar]: Oops. Sorry I forgot to put up whether or not mine had a title.
2011-04-24 [Linderel]: Trin, what's "sitar"? :o
2011-04-24 [Triola]: An instrument :)
2011-04-24 [Linderel]: *googles* Oooooo. Okay. :D
2011-04-24 [Triola]: I knew a word Lami didn't :D *boogies*
2011-04-24 [Linderel]: I always think of George when limericks are mentioned. :3
2011-04-24 [Linderel]: xD *gives a sticker and a lollipop*
2011-04-24 [Triola]: Awww, George <3 He's probably off high somewhere :3
Yay :D *puts the sticker on her t-shirt*
2011-04-24 [Linderel]: Hmm. I should enter. With... something. Not with the one about George, though; that one's not actually good. I shall come up with something!
2011-04-24 [Triola]: Mine isn't good either, I made it in five minutes, but I entered all the same :P
2011-04-25 [Alexi Ice]: The slug king is adorable! <3
2011-04-25 [Alexi Ice]: Question! Do slant rhymes count for the aabba scale?
2011-04-25 [Ravendust]: I've never written a limerick and am so gonna give it a shot, sounds fun :D
2011-04-25 [windowframe]: Hmm, the strength of the rhyme is pretty important to a limerick, Akane, so I'm going to say no...
2011-04-25 [DerynStarling]: What's a limerick? just curious :)
2011-04-25 [Linderel]: Well, it's something.
2011-04-25 [Alexi Ice]: KK, no problem.
2011-04-25 [DerynStarling]: lol thanks *runs to take a peak at the page*
2011-04-28 [Alexi Ice]: I wonder if the first line of my poem needs some kind of punctuation so 'the' doesn't confuse anyone...
2011-04-28 [Lord Josmar]: If you are using it as a replacement for me I think it's spelled "thee".
2011-04-28 [Alexi Ice]: Ahhhhh, your right! Thank you!! <3 I just knew that looked wrong
2011-04-28 [Lord Josmar]: Your welcome! I didnt catch it till I read the last line and noticed it didnt rhyme, lol.
2011-04-28 [windowframe]: It's a replacement for 'you', not 'me', though, so it's still a bit confusing. :)
2011-04-29 [Alexi Ice]: I know. Gr. I'm trying to figure out how to make it work...If you don't mind I'm going to keep this one up as a placeholder
2011-05-06 [Alexi Ice]: Lol, ok, I think this could work!
2011-05-26 [Alexi Ice]: We need more entries here! I also wrote a pretty funny lyric...story thing...which I could post here but probably won't.
2011-05-27 [Rice]: GAH! Thank you
2011-06-04 [DerynStarling]: I LOVE [Priscilla Primkin]'s! lol :p
2011-06-04 [Rice]: I swear I changed that...*head butts the screen* Thanks. D8
2011-06-11 [Avaz]: I went ahead and added one as well. It's up against some good competition, I can see a few really well crafted ones. :)
2011-06-29 [Calico Tiger]: Mine is awful (by my standards, definitely). But I had to enter something just because limericks are awesome. The only poetry I can stand x)
even when they're rubbish
2011-06-29 [Calico Tiger]: Ok, so I did a rooster one anyhow. Is that last line too violent?
2011-06-29 [Calico Tiger]: And if it is, you suxx0rz >:P
2011-06-29 [windowframe]: Nah, it's fine. X)
2011-06-29 [Priscilla Primkin]: Just dropped in my second submission. I note that the one just above mine, No. 21, doesn’t have the name of the author on it. ???
2011-06-29 [windowframe]: Fixed, thanks! :)
2011-06-29 [Dark Side of the Moon]: oh darn it! Thanks [windowframe]. *^.^*
2011-07-14 [Karithina]: Congratulation
2011-07-14 [Alexi Ice]: That slug one was hilarious! I loved it! ^^ Congrats to the both of you!
2011-07-15 [Dark Side of the Moon]: Congrats to the winners and well deserved! Those limericks are hilarious!
